????On July 13, the 10th Overseas High-level Talent Symposium & Overseas Academicians’ Qingdao Tour was held in the Qingdao Shangri-La Hotel. Themed with “The Belt and Road”: Science And Technology Innovation and International Cooperation, the activity was sponsored by the Western Returned Scholars Association (Chinese Overseas-Educated Scholars Association) and Qingdao Municipal Government. Over 100 academicians from 22 countries and over 300 representatives from governments, colleges, scientific research institutes, enterprises, finance and investment institutions participated in the activity on that day.

????Meng Fanli, the mayor of Qingdao, said in the opening ceremony that as an important center coastal city in China, Qingdao is filled with vitality. Currently Qingdao is improving policies on innovation and entrepreneurship, building high-end platforms to introduce intelligence and constructing itself into an innovation-oriented international city characterized by innovative talents gathering, favorable innovation environment and abundant innovation resources. ????In the opening ceremony, a few overseas academicians signed the agreement to reside in the Qingdao International Academician Park. 4 academicians from Germany, France and Australiamade keynote speeches respectively. 4 parallel sub-forums on network information, biological medicine, new materials and high-end equipment manufacturing were also held in the activity.

????The Qingdao International Academician Park located in Licang District, Qingdao is the vigorous promoter behind the activity. In just one year after establishment, the park has cumulatively introduced 36 academicians including 14 foreign academicians. During the activity, 31 academicians signed agreements collectively to enter the park. ????The first Chinese suspension type air train has been put into trial operation in Qingdao

????The first Chinese suspension type trial line of air train, invested by the CRRC Sifang Qingdao Co., Ltd. and contracted by the 25th Bureau Group of China Railway Construction Co., Ltd., has recently been put into trial operation in Qingdao.

????The trial line is totally about 880m long. The construction period is half a year. The maximum passing speed is 50km per hour. The lateral passing speed is 15km/hour and the radius of the lead curve is 50m. As an emerging research & development field in China, the suspension type air train has many advantages such as no occupation of ground space and effective ease the traffic pressure etc. The construction cost is about one fifth of that of the subway. It is environment-friendly and zero carbon emission travel mode.

????Based on the project, the 25th Bureau Group of China Railway Construction Co., Ltd. has applied for 3 national invention patents and 4 patents for utility models. If the application is successful, it will fill in many blanks of Chinese air train construction field. Yu Feng

????Qingdao has built up 12.98 million square meters science and technology incubators

????The innovation and entrepreneurship in Qingdao maintains a steady momentum of growth. So far, Qingdao has already built the incubators with an area of 12.98 million square meters, 8.94 million square meters of which have been put into use. Qingdao has 94 national entrepreneurial incubators, ranking 1st among all sub-provincial cities.

????According to Jiang Bo, the director of Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology, this year Qingdao will set up 20 professional technological platforms, the total number of national entrepreneurial incubating carriers will reach 100, providing services to 5000 entrepreneurial enterprises and 80,000 person times of makers. So far, the construction of 20 professional technological platforms has comprehensively launched. There are 168 incubators in Qingdao, 17 of which are national level. 152 mass entrepreneurship spaces have been established and put into operation, 66 of which are nationally registered. Qingdao has 11 national Xing Chuang Tian Di (Star Entrepreneurship Land). Over 10,400 enterprises have resided in the incubators and mass entrepreneurship spaces. Over 600 enterprises have raised the fund of 620 million Yuan.

????In the first half of this year, Qingdao has also been approved the first batch of national powerful intellectual property city construction, selected into the list of national key cities in intellectual property operation and service system construction, smoothly passed the evaluation of innovation-oriented pilot cities and obtained the approval to construct west coast provincial level agricultural high-tech industrial development zone. Its innovation capability has made rapid progress in terms of “national pilot demonstration”.

????There are 41,000 new energy vehicles in Qingdao

????There are more and more new energy vehicles on the roads of Qingdao. So far Qingdao has totally promoted the use of 41,000 new energy vehicles of various kinds.

????Since 2015, Qingdao has been vigorously promoting the use of new energy vehicles and the construction of charging infrastructure. So far Qingdao has built up 7 battery swap stations and 740 charging stations. Over 400 charging stations are under construction. Over 14,000 charging terminals have been under construction or are under construction.

????As the demonstration project for promoting new energy vehicles advances, Qingdao has attracted BAIC Group and BYD whole automobile manufacturing projects and autos are already off assembly lines.
