The Implementation Program for Constructing Qingdao into A National Leading City in Intellectual Property was issued last week. The program stipulates that by2020 Qingdao will successfully construct itself into a leading city in intellectual property.

The main construction goals include the following aspects. The number of enterprises and public institutions which pass the national certification of Enterprise Intellectual Property Management Standard will exceed60 and over300 industrial enterprises above designated size will set up special management organizations for intellectual property;The social satisfaction for intellectual property protection will exceed80%; The number of valid patents possessed by per10,000 people will exceed25, the average PCT international application will be over900 per year, the quantity of valid registered trademarks will exceed100,000, the total registration quantity of computer software and other production’s copyright will be over20,000 and over40 new plant species will be cultivated and introduced; A few leading enterprises in intellectual property and industrial clusters with international competitiveness will be created in the fields of marine science and technology, home appliance and electronic engineering, rail transit and chemical rubber etc. and the total transaction amount of intellectual property will exceed1 billion Yuan; Over150 professional intellectual property service institutions will be cultivated; Qingdao will cultivate and train over12,000 intellectual property management talents,3,000 talents in intellectual property service sector and30 leading talents in intellectual property for enterprises and public institutions.

Qingdao and Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries signed the cooperation agreement

On August14^th, the Qingdao Municipality and the Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao） signed the Memorandum on“The Belt and Road” International Capacity Cooperation in Eurasian Economic and Trade Cooperation Industrial Park in Macao.

Launched by Qingdao, the Eurasian Economic and Trade Cooperation Industrial Park is the only cross-border cooperation park with bilateral domestic and overseas interaction in China, which stretches across Eurasia. According to the memorandum, the two signing parties will jointly promote the bilateral investment and trade and international capacity cooperation between Qingdao and Portuguese-speaking countries by regarding the Eurasian Economic and Trade Cooperation Industrial Park as a local economic and trade cooperation platform for“the Belt and Road” initiative.

The Portuguese-speaking countries include Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Sao Tome and Principe, and East Timor. It is a new emerging market with a total population of280 million.
